Crafted for Connection
Classic Comfort Kitchen Remodel
Project summary:
Before any walls came down, we sat down together. The homeowners had a clear sense of what they didn’t want, and an even clearer vision of what they did. They were drawn to timeless details, warm wood tones, and a kitchen that felt refined without feeling formal. Function mattered just as much as beauty. We talked through how the space currently operated and where it fell short. The separation between rooms felt limiting, and the kitchen didn’t reflect the character they wanted for their home. Together, we explored how to open things up, add meaningful architectural detail, and create a space that belonged. Once the vision was aligned, the direction became undeniable.

Building the vision, brick by brick
The Before Stage
This remodel began with a straightforward but impactful goal: combine three separate spaces into one large kitchen and dining room. The homeowners wanted a timeless, traditional design centered around warmth, durability, and function. During our early discussions, they highlighted raised panel cabinetry, wood tones, and ceiling-height cabinets as must-haves. Glass uppers for dish display, black hardware for contrast, and a layout that felt open and practical shaped the foundation of every design decision.
Design & Planning Stage
With the direction established, we focused on defining the layout and selecting materials that aligned with the vision. Cabinetry was designed to extend fully to the ceiling to enhance storage and presence. A drink station with its own sink and beverage fridge was incorporated, along with all new appliances while keeping the double oven. Material selections reinforced the traditional aesthetic. Sherwin Williams Drift of Mist was chosen for the painted cabinets, paired with Minwax 273 Espresso stain for contrast and depth.
Finished Project
Construction centered on opening the three rooms into one cohesive kitchen and dining space. Once the structure was unified, installation of cabinetry, flooring, appliances, and finishes followed the established plan. The Artmore Tile Spencer Champagne marble-look mosaic backsplash introduced subtle texture, while grout-free countertop backsplash sections were used behind the oven and sink. Sterlina Polished 12×24 Silver tile from Emser completed the flooring, grounding the space in a clean, classic finish that reflects the original vision.
