Built-In Beauty Office & Living Room Remodel

After finishing their attic conversion last year, our clients started dreaming up new ways to make their home feel even more personal and practical. Next on their list was transforming two important spaces — the office and the living room — into areas that truly reflect their style and fit seamlessly into their everyday life.

Living room Summary:

  • Built-in cabinets on the bottom with open shelves on the top
  • Stain beams and mantle same color
  • Bottom cabinet Doors with gold mesh, for built in dog crate
  • Gold mesh
  • Picture light on each side
  • Cabinet color: Sherwin Williams Marshmallow

With two people in need of an ideal place to work, the homeowners entrusted Ten Key Remodels to create a truly custom home office. Equal parts functional and beautiful, the space is 100% a reflection of its owners.

Office Summary:

  • She needs space to write, and have her one laptop and file folder
  • He has two laptops, and they both need a computer screen
  • Wanted the perfect blue green grey color for the walls
  • Printer tucked away in drawer, but easy access ( they don’t use it often)
  • Needs file space- either use current one under desk of have a few drawers allocated for it
  • Cabinet for routers
  • Shaker drawer and door
  • Gold hardware

Office:

01

The Before Stage

Their old office felt dark and stifling, with barely enough room for one person to work comfortably. The space was underutilized and cramped at the same time. The layout of the room made it tough to stay organized and the space just didn’t have the cozy atmosphere they wanted.

02

Design & Planning Stage

We worked with them to pull together a unified look for both rooms. In the office, we made sure it worked for both of their needs, adding custom cabinetry with file drawers, a hidden printer drawer that’s still easy to reach, and a cabinet for the routers. Shaker-style doors and drawers got gold hardware, and the walls were painted a blue-green-grey they’d been searching for.

The clever design enabled us to expand the room that barely fit one person comfortably into a cozy and functional space for two people.

Finished Project

The office now suits them both, with generous desk space, organized storage, and a brighter, more inviting feel. Ideal office space for creativity necessary to write and the focus necessary for work – ideally fitting their needs!

Living Room:

01

The Before Stage

The living room, much like the office, felt somewhat cramped and a bit messy, missing the custom touches and built-in features they needed. What they needed was an inviting and cozy space they would enjoy spending time in.

02

Design & Planning Stage

In the living room, we built lower cabinets with open shelves above. The lower doors have gold mesh, with one section designed as a built-in dog crate. This clever trick opens up the space dramatically and the color combination makes it inviting and soothing. The beams and mantle were stained to match the built-ins, picture lights were added on each side, and the cabinets were painted Sherwin Williams Marshmallow.

03

Finished Project

In the living room, the built-ins provide plenty of storage and display space, while the coordinated finishes and lighting bring the whole room together. Both spaces are practical, uncluttered, and perfectly aligned with the way they live.
