The Compton Kitchen Remodel

Moriah’s kitchen just wasn’t cutting it for her family. We reworked the layout to give them more space, storage, and a better setup for everyday life. With a big island, a custom appliance garage, and plenty of rustic charm, the kitchen now finally feels like it truly fits their needs.

Project summary:

This remodel started with a pretty straightforward goal: create a kitchen that not only looks amazing but actually works for the way the family functions. Moriah wanted a space that allowed them to cook together and have enough room for everyday tasks like unloading groceries or prepping meals. And so, we closed off a doorway to make space for a full wall of cabinets and a larger island, and added a custom appliance garage to keep things organized.

The kitchen now includes four main workstations, making it easier to move between tasks without running into each other. The added rustic touches, like the white oak cabinetry and stunning terracotta accents, bring warmth and personality to the design, while modern features like the pot filler and drawer microwave only aid in elevating the cooking experience. It’s a space that truly feels right.

The story behind the remodel

Where it began

When Moriah first approached us, she expressed frustration with her kitchen’s layout, which didn’t function well for their lifestyle. The kitchen lacked sufficient counter space, and the flow wasn’t ideal. She wanted more working stations, better storage, and an overall layout that would better support her family’s needs. We closed off an existing doorway to open up the space, which allowed for a long bank of cabinets and created the much-needed counter space and flow.

Building the vision

Moriah was a dream client—prepared, thoughtful, and clear on what she wanted. The design process was collaborative, where we explored rich materials and smart storage options, including the innovative appliance garage. Closing off a door to create one long wall of cabinets made all the difference. With added counter space and well-placed workstations, we created a kitchen that feels both timeless and functional.

Where it landed

The transformation is stunning. The kitchen now boasts long stretches of counter space with custom cabinets that go all the way up to the ceiling. The two-tone cabinetry adds visual depth, and the new range unit and ice maker provide the functionality Moriah was after. The space feels cohesive, with every detail—down to the hardware—perfectly placed. It’s no longer a source of stress, but a true center of family life.
